MeMeMe Highlighter Review...

Thursday 30 September 2010

Doesn't everybody strive for that perfect 'candlelight' glow on their cheeks, especially during the dull ole' winter months, when skin is more likely to look 'just been running for the bus' shiny rather than perfect glowy, healthy skin.

However not to fear, MeMeMe Highlighter is here!

Now MeMeMe has a history of having 'similar' products as the beautiful but pricey brand of Benefit, and their highlighter does have a considerable likeness to Benefit Highbeam, however who's to complain when its a quarter of the price?!

I picked up this beautiful Beat The Blues Highlighter in Sunbeam in the lovely Superdrug for just £4.50, and of course upon getting it home I was eager to try it out...

Lets get glowing... (Que a few rubbish pictures...)

*Excuse my terrible, terrible pictures!*

After many disastrous adventures with highlighter before (glitter ball cheeks anyone?) I was cautious of getting my hopes up for this. However I was not disappointed with this little gem.

This highlighter is one of the 'nail polish' makeup products, where you use a brush to apply product and then blendddd, which, when using in public, usually prompts people to warn you about putting nail polish on your face :|

Anywhoo, this is a beautiful soft golden colour and when rubbed in, has a tiny amount of shimmer, not enough to sparkle like a disco ball, but just enough to give you that radiant glow that we all strive for. Perfect colour for anytime, and will be especially pretty in summer next year, and it lasts forever!

The only downfall to this product is that in some lights you can see the actual shimmer, which will never make you look disco-balley but some may find this annoying!

Overall I love this product, one of the best highlighter I have used in my admittedly small highlighter collection, and for just £4,50, give it a go!

I brought this product with my own money and they are my honest views on this product.

Oh Dear, Another Haul...

Saturday 25 September 2010

Oh yes girlie's, its another haul!
Sorry for the lack of 'proper' posts recently, its seems all my spare time is spent shopping and taking on my ever growing pile of homework rather than blogging, whoops!
Promise promise promise there will actually be some good posts up soon...

Anywhooo...

Last Sunday I went to town determined to find the perfect winter staple pieces that would last throughout the whole of the cold season. And what did I come back with you ask? A truck load of makeup and summer clothes.

Oooops.

I know, I know, I'm a bad shopper! I spend all my money in Superdrug and then while out clothes shopping I panic buy on things I don't really need. But hey ho, what can you do?! Here are my goodies the I picked up...

After all your fabulous advice on the comments of my Seriously In Need Of A Little Hair Therapy post where I asked for advice on my flat, dull boring hair, I was determined to go out and pick up a few things to get my hair from hideous to hair-mazing! And after a few minutes browsing the shelves of the lovely Superdrug, I picked up these lovelies, Tresemme Reconstructing Deep Conditioning Treatment Mask, from the (bargainous) £2.50, and Tresemme Heat Defence Spray, £2.50. And I have to say, what a treat my hair got that night! The conditioning mask really is an amazing product, leaving my hair shiny in just 10 minutes, and so soft I spent the following day stroking it and forcing my friends to feel just how amazing my hair felt. And as for the the heat defence spray, lets just say there will be no more heat damage for my hair, horahh!!

Now, naughty Superdrug had a 3 for 2 deal on all Barry M products, and hey, who can ignore a great deal, ehh?! Of course I had to pick my much lusted after Nail Paints in Berry Ice Cream (No. 308) and Navy (No. 292) and I must say, they really are beautiful. I'm a bit late to jump on the lilac nails bandwagon, but its a lovely, pale purple, great with a tan, and the navy has amazing iridescent blue particles which looks stunning on the nails!

Now for the cheapies in my little haul!
I was over the moon when on my little trip into Superdrug I discovered my local had finally got MUA products, and, not one to ignore new makeup, I bought Shade 17 of the eyeshadow, for the tiny price of £1. Speaking of things for £1, upon popping into the Pound Shop, I discovered this little bargain, Loreal Paris Shadow Minerals in Gold. Ohh I do love the pound shop, this colour is a stunning iridescent true gold and what an amazing find in the pound shop!?

To make up the 3 in my 3 for 2 deal on Barry M products I picked up this gorgeous lip gloss in Coral (No. 11) after becoming obsessed with the Toffee lip gloss, which as the name suggests smells amazing! This is no different, and smells like sweets, and what a beautiful colour!
I also picked up the essential Vaseline, and while browsing the makeup, as usual, I found something I've wanted for, well, forever. Me Me Me Beat The Blues Highlighter in Sunbeam, for just £4.50 was added to my rather large shopping basket. And boy oh boy am I glad. This highlighter really is lovely, adding such a beautiful sun ray highlight, which will look perfect in summer next year. (Who cares if I'm a bit early? ;)

And finally on my little Superdrug-spree, I picked up these Self Grip Velcro Bedtime Rollers for £3.50. Now, these I'm not too sure about as the first time I tried these I succeeded in getting them stuck in my hair, and rather than creating beautiful tumbling curls, I got messy birds nest hair instead, not a good look, let me tell you. So my question is, has anyone tried Velcro rollers and if so how do you use them?

Another couple of staple items were picked up were leggings (H&M, £7.99) and spotty tights (Primark £2). I'm seriously in need of some decent leggings after a few horrific accidents with the devilish Primark leggings, where they decided to split while I was out- cringe!!

These gorgeous little booties were a steal from Primark for just £15, woo whooo! Perfect for winter and just about perfect for everything else too...

I picked up this simple but gorgeous baggy t-shirt in Primark for just £4. The detailing is edgy and this is the perfect t-shirt for lazy days over leggings.

For just £11, this adorable little heart jumper was another bargain buy from Primark. I bought it two sizes too big so it would be slouchy and comfortable for those cold days, but still pretty with its cute heart design.

And another Pimark bargain, at £4, this little vest top with flower embellishment is so pretty and feminine, so who cares if its more summer than winter!

And finally, the last cheapie of the day was this pretty summer dress from New Look, for just £7 in the sale. Its a beautiful khaki colour and the detailing is just lovely.

Sorry for the ridiculously long haul cupcakes, I confess I have a slight shopping problem! Well done if you got this far...

Toodles...

Long Outstanding & Holiday Haulage...

Saturday 18 September 2010

Here's a few little bits and pieces I have picked up in the last month or so... and a couple that have travelled all the way from Lanzarote!

Ohh Primark, I do love you!
These couple of necklaces were a complete bargain at £2 each, and so damn adorable!
The first one is a thin chain with a bird cage sitting at the end, check out the little tweety-bird hiding inside, I nearly melted with the cuteness!
The second is a small gold bag, which is ridiculously cool as it actually opens! I nearly had a heart attack in the store when I discovered this, me thinking I'd broken it, as accidents seem to just surround me! However, I was pleasantly surprised that it did actually open, how amazing is that? Think of the things you could store inside and carry around your neck...

Of course when on a little trip to boots, I just couldn't come out empty handed. While picking up goodies to give to my best friend for her birthday, I picked up this beautiful 17 Eyeshadow in Mardi Grass. Its a gorgeous gold/bronze with shimmer and applies beautifully
OK, I admit it, this was meant for my lovely friend, but I bought her something else inste.ad as I loved it so much, shhhh ;)

Finally FINALLY, I got my hands on this little beauty! I've been looking for Barry M Toffee Lipgloss for months and months, but, alas, it was always out of stock! So imagine my excitement seeing it on the shelves, just waiting to be snapped up. And oh my goodness, I want to eat it, it smells so good!

And.. thank you to the lovely Boots, who gave me their legendary £5 off No.7 voucher, with which I bought this gorgeous eyeshadow in Wheat Sheath, a beautiful soft yellow, beige colour, which I think is perfect for a natural school look.

And now onto the bits and bobs from Lanzarote...

As a little gift to my lovely friends back at home, I brought 6 of these bracelets for just 5 euros in a little shop on the high street. Absolute bargain! Of course they were so cute, I just had to have one for myself, as they have such pretty charms!

There was a beautiful shop near the sea front which had an amazing selection of jewellery, and I managed to find this little beauty. I absolutely adore it, its kinda in keeping with an armour-ish quality, but also very dainty with delicate flowers, and another bargain for just 6 euros!

That's it for my hauls at the moment, but expect another very soon as I'm anticipating a massive blowout tomorrow!

Toodles my lovelies! :)

Seriously In Need Of A Little Hair Therapy

Wednesday 15 September 2010

Hola Chickens!

I am seriously in need of some big hair help from you all, up for the challenge? ;)

Seems that lately my hair has been more 'mehh'... than 'wowza!', and I need your amazing help to cure my hair slump!

Years of straightening, neglect and general meanness on my already extremely thin, limp hair has made the situation even worse, leaving me with dry, flat, and ridiculously thin hair.

I yearn for beautiful, full, thick, bloody amazing hair. I have serious hair-envy...

For a few months now I've been on a strict no-heat ban for my hair, which has improved its condition marginally. Now my hair care routine is to just shampoo and condition, let my hair air dry and then sleep with it piled on top of my head for a tiny bit of added umphh!

However, my ends are so dry and damaged I have resorted to snipping some of my split ends off myself, as I'm growing my hair longer, so I try not to snip off too much when visiting the dreaded hairdresser.

So my big question is, have you got thin hair, how do you deal with it, and how can I give mine some added volume while still maintaining my no-heat ban? And what sort of products could help my poor dry hair? Any miracle products out there that cure split ends?

Thank you my lovelies, you are my saviours! :)

Summer, where arte thou?

Saturday 11 September 2010

School. Homework. Projects.
Oh the dreaded words.

Long gone are the days of waking up at noon, to find the whole day stretched ahead of me, ready to be filled with endless fun and relaxation.

Oh no.

Bye bye summer, hello school/waste of my life.

I've swapped Twilight for Shakespeare, Ipods for Art and fun times for, well... no free time at all. With the amount of coursework my teachers are dumping on me at the moment you'd thing I was a skip!

But anyway, rant over.
Even though summers over, here's a few piccies of my recent holiday trip Lanzarote...

My Sister :)

Oh hello Mr Parrot, sqaurkkk!

Lilo Wars 2.0!

So girlie's how was your summer holidays? :)

My Top Five Lipsticks...

Friday 3 September 2010

Hey Dolls...

Out of all of the makeup products in the whole wide world, I would have to say that lipstick is one of my all time favourites. The variety of colours, the exciting textures and just the damn amazing gorgeous-ness of them puts lipstick at the forefront of all makeup in my opinion, and I feel that no shopping trip is complete unless I've got a beautifully wrapped little lippie sitting at the bottom of my shopping bags.

So today, in honour of my favourite makeup product, here are my top 5 lipsticks from my collection...

(L-R, Barry M Coral, ELF Nicely Nude, 17 Balmy Beige, MAC Hue, Gosh Darling)

My nude lips, just for comparison...

5
Barry M Lipstick in Coral
This is an extremely bright and beautiful, full on coral orange, with very fine sparkle running through it. I would say that this is a little drying, but I love it just for the stunning colour, that is perfect for Summer, if summer ever even arrives!

4
ELF Mineral Lipstick in Nicely Nude
Of course, by no means a 'nude' colour, but true to the other part of its name, it is extremely 'nice'. A beautiful warm pink, its perfect for everyday wear and looks beautiful teamed with a soft pink gloss. If your looking for a barbie pink then keep looking, but this is a softer, more wearable alternative. I feel that it is moisturising and so amazing to wear, such a perfect pink.

3
17 Lipstick in Balmy Beige
This beautiful, soft coral/orange/goldey colour is the perfect sheer top coat for other lipsticks, to add a little bit of dazzle to your lips. Although it doesn't give an amazing impression on its own, it looks beautiful teamed with nude lips, pink lips, coral lips, any old lips!

2
MAC Lipstick in Hue (Glaze)
This stunning, sheer nude pink lipstick is one of those 'your lips- but better' colours, which adds hints of colours without looking too full-on or overdone. Its got a beautiful texture and is perfect for doing nude lips without going too nude, and ending up looking dead...

And finally... first place goes too... *drum roll please*

1
Gosh Lipstick in Darling
Oh what can I say about my favourite lipstick in the world!? The perfect nude, with pink undertones, I think this colour would suit almost everybody, and is the perfect way for toning down overly bright colours, making smoky eyes pop and warming up the complexion. Used full pelt its a very pigmented nude which knocks out the colour in your lips, although I prefer to use it dabbed on my lips sparingly, just for the hint of a nude lip. Overall, an all round stunner!!

So girlie's, you've heard my list, but what about you?! Whats your favourite lipstick in the whole wide world!?

This is a scheduled post, as I'm on holiday at the moment, so apologies if I don't get back to you straight away...

August Favourites...

Wednesday 1 September 2010

It really does feel like someone has pressed fast forward on 2010! Where did August go, and where was that fabulous summer we were all promised, whereas all that was delivered was dreary rainstorms, humph. :/

However, we do have something exciting to look forward to...

Christmas- Oh yeah, 115 Days to go! Horrahh!

Of course, now Summer's over the only thing on my mind is all the pressies that I may find in my stocking in a few months (I'm greedy like that ;) You should see my already miles long Christmas list, full of frivolous beauty products and you guessed it... makeup. What. A. Shocker.

Anywhoo, lets not get ahead of ourselves, here's some August Faves for y'all...

ELF Powder Brush

As seen frequently in post after post on my blog, my new love, the ELF Powder Brush just had to be in my August favourites! The flat topped brush is perfect for applying liquid foundation, mineral foundation, blush, anything you need, BAMM, this brush can do it!

Barry M Lip Gloss in Toffee

Mmmmm... just thinking about this lip gloss makes me drool like a fool. The smell is literally of toffee and when applying it I have a hard time trying to stop myself from licking my lips. On top of that, the consistency is completely un-sticky and the colour perfect for any type of pink or nude lipstick. This really has restored my faith in lip glosses after a few disasters that I will not mention...

Barry M Dazzle Dust in Mushroom

A lot of love for Mr Barry M today :)
I never really realised the beauty of this eyeshadow colour until this summer, as in winter I feel it doesn't show its true magnificence. Its a mauve purple that shimmers in the light, with flecks of greens, blues, silvers and all the colours of the rainbow to make it multidimensional and ridiculously pretty.

Benefit Lust Duster in Snow Bunny

I received this as a prize from a giveaway earlier this month and I have to say this really is the best highlighting product I have come across so far. Its fine, shimmery dust glides across the cheekbones to create a beautiful 'candlelight' glow without looking chalky or overly Edward Cullen-like glittery. Big thumbs up from me.

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara

How could I do an August Favourites post without including this little beauty, ehh? Hands down, the best mascara I have ever owned, and I am even on the verge of calling it my HG mascara, oh yes, prestigious or what? :)
Its the perfect mascara for thick, sexy lashes without clumping, flaking or smudging, and oh I do love this little beauty.

Owlie!

This little bird necklace seems to be living around my neck these days, and of course I have even pet named it as I do with most of my things (because I'm cool like that ;). This gorgeous little accessory is of course from Primark, and helps to casualise any outfit and add a little originality and cuteness.

So that's it for August! Bye bye disappointing summer, hello Autumn!

This is a scheduled post, as I'm on holiday at the moment, so apologies if I don't get back to you straight away...
