Gosh Darling - I Love You ♥

Monday, 31 May 2010

Firstly, I am so so so so excited!
100 followers, Yippppppeeeee :)
Thank you all so much for your support, you are all amazing!

And now onto one more amazing thing in my life:

Gosh Darling, my new lippie love is the best product I have bought in a long time, and really is the HG of all lipsticks! (which btw means 'Holy Grail', hehe I only found that out today, silly billy!)

I'm seriously addicted to the 'nude lips, big eyes' look at the moment, and Gosh Darling, isn't this lippie the perfect way to achieve it. [See what I did there? ;)] I really cannot stop singing its praises, and I can honestly say I am in love!

(Natural Lip Colour)

(Gosh Darling - without flash)

(With flash)

As you can see, it has a pinky undertone to it, which stops it from being too pale, so as to not give you the oh so brilliant 'dead' look, that I'm sure you all love ;).

In fact, this pink undertone means that if you apply it to your cheeks as a blush, it gives the most beautiful, subtle glow, which I heart...

It is a gorgeous, creamy formula, with its only downside being that if you have dry lips it can make them look a little cakey. However, lip balm + gosh darling is the perfect combination to counteract this effect :)

Sorry for the gushing love for Gosh Darling, but I really would recommend it to anyone!

Hope you liked this post! :)

Do you like Gosh Darling, or which nude lippies do you love?

Would You Rather?

Benefit- My New Obsession...

Thursday, 27 May 2010

I've always been a girl with expensive taste, and my new obsession is no different!
Lately I've been reading review after review after review on Benefit products, and there so damn pretty I can't help but fall in love with them!
I know, I know don't judge a book by its cover and everything, but they really are so beautiful. I'm just a sucker for good packaging I guess and I just have to try some out after seeing amazingly cheap prizes on eBay at the moment!

So here are the few of the things I've been lusting after...

(All pictures used from Benefit Cosmetics)

Just one downer though...
Still haven't received my free benefit lip gloss which i won with my flake, its been a month! :(

Oh well, hopefully it will come soon!

Now i need your help- which of these products do you recommend, or are there any others you like?

Recipe for the purrr-fect fake tan! :)

Sunday, 23 May 2010

When the sun comes out, England goes into overdrive. There's bikini clad people hanging around on every corner, ice cream trucks rotate constantly and everyone seems to be obsessed with getting the most perfect tan around.
Including me... ;)

But sometimes the perfect tan is one of the most difficult problems, especially after months of my skin being neglected under mountains of woolly jumpers to keep out the cold cold winter. That's the beauty of England, how everything changes when there is the slightest bit of sunshine.

But
And this is a big but,
how DO you get the perfect tan?

Well... here is my fool-proof theory...
Step 1- Exfoliate!
Everyone knows that the key to success is preparation, so why change that when dealing with skin?
Exfoliating is the process of removing dry skin cells by buffing the surface of skin with granulated lotions. (Sorry for the science lesson (;)

Today, I discovered that my draw was severely lacking in exfoliating lotions, so I had to take matters into my own hands...

I know, I know, it looks like mushy yellow soup/sick but in reality it is a good ole' homemade exfoliator!
And how did I make this masterpiece/yellow mush, you ask?

Mix olive oil, sugar and a drop of vanilla extract together in a bowl, et voila! You have yourself your very own exfoliator!
You may also want to use some exfoliator gloves, mine were from the pound shop!

You can then apply this all over the body- bar the sensitive face area- to unveil lovely soft skin ready to be fake tanned!

Step 2- Moisturise
Moisturising with your favourite moisturiser will not only make your skin feel lush, but will also provide the perfect base for fake tan. Apply it all over the areas you want to tan, ensuring that it is rubbed in thoroughly...

This is my favourite misturisor, Boots Pure Honey Body Lotion. It smells amazing and leaves me with silky soft skin. :)
Now your ready for...
Step 3- Fake Tan

Choose your fake tan wisely.
Many a product on the market is destined to turn you into an umpa-lumpa, so be extra careful you choose one that you know will not turn you orange.

I use St Moriz, a ultra cheap dupe of St Tropez Tanning Mousse, and it can be bought in TG Hughes for around £3!

My ultra cheap method of applying it is to use a plastic bag.
Yes I know, your thinking- WHATTT?
But if you don't have a tanning mitt handy, a plastic sandwich bag will do the job just as well and keep your hands tango-free. Secure it with a hairband at the bottom to keep it in place and get tanning.

The most important thing to remember while tanning is rub, rub, rub it in! Don't stop rubbing until everything has been absorbed and is not streaky. Build up the colour slowly to ensure you don't go too dark and if you are using a tan like St Moriz, leave on to develop for around 5 or 6 hours!

And there you go, perfect tan (hopefully)!
I hope your tanning is going well, and no-one is tango-ed yet, it happens to all of us hehe! ;)

Hope you liked this and thanks for reading!

FOTD! ;)

Friday, 21 May 2010

£38 and 4 days of waiting and jumping up every time the post man came knocking later, my lovely big ELF order finally arrived! After bouncing up and down with excitement for a few minutes, I settled down to actually opening the (huge) box. :)

Inside was a whole host of goodies, about 17 in total, which is amazing for the £38 I paid out! Which (as I just worked out on my calculator) is only £2.24 a piece! Bargain or what? But here we go, what I bought...

From the normal ELF range:

Therapeutic Conditioning Balm (Vanilla)- On first thoughts I really disliked this. It seems to come out white on the lips, but after some playing I discovered it did actually look good when rubbed in a little, and is used to pale down lips.
All Over Colour Stick (Lilac Petal)- This is a gorgeous colour which adds a little blush to the cheeks, but is best used as a highlighter on the cheek bones for emphasis.
Duo Eye Shadow Cream (Coffee and Cream)- I really like these colours, the coffee colour is a dark brown which blends beautifully and the white has small gold flecks which reflect the light.
Plumping Lip Glaze (Baby Doll)- I'm not as sure about this product as the rest. Although when applied to the lips it gives a lovely tingling feeling, I saw no real 'plumping' and the colour wasn't as pigmented as I would have liked.
Shimmering Facial Whip (Pink Lemonade)- This is the perfect colour for cheeks and is shimmery to reflect light.

(Sorry for the teeny tiny writing :/)

Brushes:

(L-R Studio Kabuki Face Brush, Studio Blush Brush, Studio Complexion Brush, Blending Eye Brush)

Kabuki Face Brush- This really is the best kabuki I have ever used, and the softest brush ever! At £5 this is a little more expensive than the other products, but is completely worth it as it is perfect for blending and so soft I want to rub it on my face constantly.
Blush Brush- This is perfectly shaped for getting at the apples of your cheeks to give you a lovely healthy glow, and even though it is synthetic hairs, it is impossibly soft.
Complexion Brush- This is amazing for power on my face, although I think it could be a little flat for some people.
Blending Eye Brush- I really like this brush, its amazing at blending the hardest to work with eyeshadow and its soft and kind to the delicate eye area.

(First three brushes are from the studio line, the Blending Eye Brush from the normal ELF range)

Mineral Makeup range...

Mineral Eye Liner (Black)- This eyeliner is soft and is easily blendable, the only down point is that the tip will easily wear down and be difficult to sharpen.
Lipstick (Nicely Nude)- Or nicely pink as it should have been called. This in no way could be called a 'nude', although it is a very pretty soft pink (not as coral as it seems in the picture) and it is a very wearable colour.

And from the Studio Line makeup...

(Top Row L-R, Complexion Perfection, Blush and Bronzer Compact, Bronzer
Middle L-R, Cream Eyeliner, Single Eyeshadow
Bottom Row,  Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter)

Complexion Perfection- Upon first seeing this pastel coloured palette I'm not ashamed to say that I was a little skeptical, but upon receiving I'm converted. Each of the colours are aimed at reducing redness/yellowness etc on the face, and mixed together the colours help to give a flawless base.
Blush and Bronzer Compact- This is probably the best product on this range and I cannot give it enough praise. The blush, a beautiful soft peachy pink is perfect to blend and has small golden fleck and the dark brown bronzer is fantastic for contouring under cheek bones. RECOMMEND! :)
Bronzer (Warm)- This is also a little miracle product which really illuminates your skin. After reading about this on lollipop26's blog I was interested and on getting it I can confirm she is absolutely right about the perfect colour this gives your face.
Cream Eyeliner (Black)- Another of my faves, this is the key to getting a perfect straight line. Never having used a cream liner before, I am so excited about this and absolutely love it!
Single Eyeshadow (Coffee)- Yepp, you may be able to tell I like brown eyeshadows :) This is a gorgeous, very well pigmented colour, that I love to use in the crease for a gorgeous smokey brown eye.
Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter (Glow/Fair)- I really like the concealer side of this, its a very bright, light colour that I feel really makes me look awake in the mornings, but the 'glow' side really is not what I expected. The white liquid doesn't really do anything and I was quite disappointed. But I would recommend just for the gorgeous colour of the concealer. :)

If you are interested in any of these product check out Eyes Lips Face.

It seems ELF is fast becoming my new makeup obsession- its just too damn tempting with its cheap as chips prices and gorgeous colour palettes! In fact the studio range are so good I'm already thinking about my next order, oh dear time to start saving up again!

If you want any extra information about any of these products just ask, I might be doing a bit of a rave in the future about the Studio Palettes especially, so watch out for those!

I hope you like my little (well actually quite large) haul. :)

FOTD coming up including most of these products... :)

Barry M Nail Paint Love- Top 5

Thursday, 20 May 2010

Hello Bloggies! :)

Now as we all know, Barry M currently rules the world of colourful nail polishes. At only £2.95 a piece, they are affordable but surprisingly good quality, mine once went a whole week without chipping! Therefore this post is dedicated to my top five fabulous nail paints from my beloved Barry M...

So here we go...

Black (No. 47)
This little beauty helps me achieve gothic sheek and is so well pigmented it only needs one coat in most cases. Make sure you use a good base coat so it doesn't stain your nails when using this.

Vivid Purple (No. 161)
This colour is a marbly pink/purple, which looks great with practically anything. The colour is so beautiful and easy to apply you wont be able to stop yourself putting it on!

Fuchsia (No. 302)
This gorgeous hot pink is perfect for summer and looks great with anytime, anywhere. Please ignore the smudge, I accidentally splodged it on my bed cover, whoops. That reminds me, does anyone know how to remove nail polish from fabric before my mum kills me? ;)

Grey (No. 293)
This colour is so versatile and soft it goes with everything. I love wearing it in winter as its a bit dark for Summer but not as harsh as Black.

And my number 1 favourite Barry M nail paint is...

CORAL! (No. 296)
The most gorgeous pink/orange is my ultimate summer polish, as it finishes off any outfit perfectly! I love wearing blue with this as the clashing colours stand out amazingly. The pigmentation is perfect and I normally get away with one coat which lasts 3-5 days with top coat. Favourite nail varnish ever, hands down!

:)

So thats my little list of my favourite Barry M Nail Paints, but I'd love to know what your favourite colours are from the brand??

Love Hannah
