top ten products of twenty-ten.

Thursday, 30 December 2010

As the year draws to a close and 2011 looms ever closer, I got to thinking about the year that has just past. Elections, world cups, friends, family and brand new makeup addictions have made twenty-ten a year to remember for a while. 2010 was really the year I got into makeup, got my first MAC lipstick and discovered my new found passion for all things beauty related, and of course the most important thing...

I started this blog.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your continual support with this blog. As I write this, I am only 5 followers off the 500 mark, and it still baffles me to think that people actually read what I write, so... thank you ♥

So now lets get down to the nitty gritty, to the amazing products that deserve the title of my 'ten ten products of twenty-ten'...

 In no particular order...

Sleek I-Divine Storm Palette  12 beautiful pigmented colours that can be combined multiple ways to create gorgeous natural eye looks- win!

ELF Warm Bronzer  Hands down, favourite bronzer. I love this and its a perfect colour. The lighter colour is a lovely highlight and for £3.50, who can complain?!

Cocoa Butter Vaseline  The newcomer to the prestigious Vaseline family, this gorgeous smelling little pot of joy is sooo nice on the lips.

MAC Hue Lipstick  The aforementioned 'first MAC lipstick', this is my most beautiful lipstick, the perfect shade for me!

2True Cheek and Lip Tint  At only £2, this is a bargain dupe for Benefit's Benetint, and I love using it underneath ELF Blush in Berry Merry to create my favorite cheek combo.

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara  All time favourite mascara. Fact.

ELF Cream Eyeliner  This year I have really discovered my love for cream/gel liner, and this is my favourite at the moment, gorgeous pigmentation and easy to work with.

ELF Powder Brush  Amazing value for money and perfect for applying liquid foundation, powder, blush and all types of makeup? Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it!

No7 Blend and Contour Brush  My absolute favourite crease brush, and perfect for blending out too. Love it!

Absolutely everything and anything LUSH. This year the LUSH fiend as been released in me. Be afraid, be very afraid.

With Christmas Day only a matter of hours away, I am getting all bouncy and excited at the thought of all those lovely goodies sitting under the tree, just taunting me to rip them open. Although Christmas is all about family, fun and friends, who doesn't love getting a treat just once a year!? So here's what I'm hoping for in my Christmas stocking...

it's behind you!

Sunday, 19 December 2010

Pantomimes are an essential part of Christmas tradition in England. Every year during the festive season we wrap up warm in cosy woollies and the latest trends and toddle off down to the local theater to see the Christmas pantomime. Well, maybe that's just me, but I certainly feel that it is a much loved tradition to go and shout 'its behind you!' at Widow Twanky, laugh at Button's corny jokes and generally have a good ole' time watching your favourite story tales brought to life.

For those of you unsure as to what a pantomime is, it is where actors (sometimes celebrities) put on a production of much loved fairy tales like Cinderella, Jack and the Bean Stalk etc. in a very jokey way. Its all a good laugh and everyone enjoys it, and of course they sell ice cream in the interval, nom nom nom.

I went to my local production of Aladdin last week, it was so fun and really got me into the Christmas spirit. I cannot wait for Christmas and New Year, eeeee, I'm so excited!

Here's what I wore to Aladdin ...

why hello Minnie...

Friday, 17 December 2010

Recently I was inspired by the amazing YouTube guru, AndreasChoice and her beautiful hairstyle tutorial here.
The look is for a gorgeous bow on top of the head, and as it was so easy and pretty, I thought it was about time I submitted myself to the 'bow hair' trend...

Please excuse my terrible pictures, I'm hoping for a lovely new camera in my Christmas stocking!

As you can see I'm slightly useless in the hairstyle department, however I do actually really like the effect, very Minnie Mouse-esque!

Of course anything relating to Minnie requires bright red lips...

ELF Lipstick in Seductive + Vaseline

Crikey, I look pale in these pictures. Me thinks its time to whip out the St Moriz for a quick winter fake bake!

Who else has indulged themselves in the infamous bow hair trend?

X Factor, X Factor, X Factor...

Saturday, 11 December 2010

Just the name makes me incredibly happy.
However, tomorrow night this years fantabulos series of The X Factor comes to a close. After months of votes, thousands of contestants, and just one Wagner, it will all be over in a matter of hours and I for one am extremely sad. Who can actually say they don't get swept up into the X Factor bubble of supporting your favourite, loathing others, and booing and cheering along with the show at home?! This year, the 3 firm favourites have been Matt, Rebbecca and One Direction and there they will be in the final tonight, joined by the controversial Cher Lloyd, who I for one actually like.

Last week I was privileged to actually go and see X Factor live, and it was
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
The whole atmosphere of the live acts performing just 20 feet away from me was spine tingling and I was amazed to actually see Cheryl, Simon, Danni and Louis, just infront of me. The whole night was unbelievable, and I had a fantastic time.

A little piccie of my X Factor outfit- the dress code was 'your going to a glamorous party' haha!

My firm favourite to win is most definitely One Direction...

Ahhh sooo beautiful...

mmmmm... Harryyyy ♥ ♥ ♥
It should be illegal for him to be this gorgeous...

...However, with this talented lineup for the final, it really is anyone's game!
Who are you backing to be the 2010 winner, Matt, Cher, Rebbecca or One Direction?!

Oh and to all my readers from countries other than England, please forgive me for the irrelevant topic! :)

Makeup Editoral Look ♥

Saturday, 13 November 2010

I am always amazed at lovely bloggers on here and on YouTube who can create astonishing makeup looks, and am jealous of their amazing editorial work they create from just a few basic products and a 'blank canvas' - face.

So, as an aspiring makeup artist/beauty journalist myself, I decided to try out a bit of 'face art', inspired by youtubers such as CosmeticsCharlotte72 and MakeupByRisa...

I used ELF Cream Eyeliner in Black, Barry M Dazzledust in Mushroom (used wet) and Benefit Lust Duster in Moon Doggie (also used wet) to create this look :)

By no means is this anywhere near as good as anything the amazing artists on YouTube and blogger can create, however I am actually quite pleased with the result, for me a makeup artistry newbie :)

I based this pattern/look on flowers and fireworks night, and played around until I came up with something decent.

Upon showing my family my makeup, I was subjected to a lot of dropped jaws and 'What have you done?!'s before they eventually gathered I was trying out a whole new look.

I'm hoping the reactions from my lovely followers will be a little less shocked, but all the same what do you think? Honest opinions please :)

Friday, 12 November 2010

Lucky me, this week I was asked by the lovely Jodie from Jodieecharlotte to feature on her blog, whooo whooo!

If your interested, check out the post here ♥

She is so sweet and does THE best makeup tips, check Jodie outtt! :)

Have a good weekend chicas! :)

LUSH!

Wednesday, 10 November 2010

Finally!
Finally!
Finally!

Finally, I have a Lush haul for you, my lovelies!

On a recent trip into town, me and my friend decided to venture into my much lusted after shop, Lush!

Some of you may know that recently I have become obsessed with checking out all of the Lush products and finding the perfect purchase for my very first Lush order. However, actually shopping in store is a lot different to lusting after products online, as everything smells so amazing!

One of the products that I thought it was a dead cert that I'd be picking up was the much raved about Snow Fairy Shower Gel, however after going and having a good sniff, I just could not summon up any enthusiasm for which was, in my opinion, an overly sweet and overrated scent, which was just not for me.

So, after the Snow Fairy disappointment, I was eager to look for other gorgeous smelling, soapy, bubbly balls of goodness. I have to add that the girls who helped me in Lush were absolutely lovely, and so sweet in helping a 'Lush Virgin' like me! I was so pleased to be treated in such a nice way in my first ever visit and they just made me want to go back to Lush over and over again!

So now what did I actually buy in Lush?

The Comforter Bubble Bar
This smells A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
The fragrant scent of this fills up my room and leaves my draws smelling good enough to eat.
Although I'm not really a bath sort of person I couldn't resist this, and upon using it last Sunday I was over the moon at the gorgeous smelling, bubbly pink bath it created!

 Cinders Bath Ballistic
I thought that this bath bomb would be perfect for use on fireworks night, with its smokey, cinnamon fragrance. I did in fact use it on Bonfire Night, and I loved watching the little surprises in this, however, I just can't get used to baths without bubbles, it just doesn't seem right to me!

Lip Dip
Nom Nom NOM NOM!!
This sherbet, cranberry and lemon flavour lip scrub tastes divine.
I know, I know, lip scrubs are not for eating, but I make an exception for this! Its also pretty good at being a real lip scrub, however for me the main feature of this is the taste, yum yummm!

♥ ♥ ♥

After my Total Lush Virgin post about the Lush products that I really wanted to try, in which I featured Lush Fresh Farmacy, the lovely Sabre Rose offered to send me her piece of unused Fresh Farmacy, what a sweetie :)

Fresh Farmacy
This pretty pink slab claims to be the perfect cleanser for helping get rid of spots. I've only been using it a week, so I cannot comment on its spot healing properties, however I can say it smells lovely!

Porridge Soap
The lovely girl also sent me a piece of this soap which has little porridge oats in it which exfoliates your skin, leaving you feeling soft and smooth.

This was the first of, hopefully, many more future Lush hauls!

Please excuse my stupid, non-focusing camera!

Has anyone got any recommendations for more Lush products to try? :)
